(PN 567) The Sexual Violence Victim Protection Act requires law enforcement agencies to adopt a written policy regarding sexual violence victim protection orders. Each law enforcement agency would provide the victim of sexual violence with oral and written notice of sexual assault services in the community and to make reasonable efforts to notify any person protected by an order issued under this act of the arrest of the defendant for violation of an order as soon as possible. The legislation provides for commencement of proceedings, hearings, relief, service of orders, and arrest for violation of order. A sexual assault counselor would be permitted to accompany and provide assistance to a party in any legal proceeding or hearing.
