On November 7, 2009, at the annual banquet of the Beaver Valley Chiefs of Police Association, Sheriff George David was honored to receive the Law Enforcement Man of the Year –Distinguished Service Award for Meritorious Achievement. The award was presented by Chief Lawrence Conti (Ret.), President of the Beaver Valley Chiefs of Police Association, at their annual Dinner at the Seven Oaks Country Club, Beaver, Pa.
Sheriff David has a long storied record of achievements in his many years of law enforcement. In 1975, he was the first police officer in Beaver County to receive the "Policeman of the Year Award" for courage and service beyond the call of duty. That same year, he also received the Purple Heart for being shot in the line of duty. In 1977 and 1978, he was honored to receive the Alquippa Blue Ribbon Award for the best arrest and surveillance of a pornography ring, and outstanding effort and participation in the protection of our 39th President James E. Carter, respectively.
Other awards over the years include, Recognition of his contribution to humanity in the field of religion and law(1979), Merit Award for Excellent Arrest(1979),Crime Solvers Award (1996), Merit Award from the Alquippa Police Department(1999), and the 2000 Man of the Year Award from the American Lebanese Congress.
Sheriff George David is a retired 30-year veteran of the Aliquippa Police Department and former Asst. Chief of Police. He was named Sheriff in 1996 by Governor Tom Ridge, upon the appointment of Sheriff Frank Policaro as U.S. Marshall for the Western district of Pennsylvania, and served a 2-year term. He was later appointed “Chief of Security” at the Beaver County Jail. He again ran for the Office of Beaver County Sheriff in 2007 and won by a wide margin.
