| Sheriff Larry Field has been selected as the "2009 Person of the Year" by the Blair Bedford Central Labor Council.
He started working in junior high school as a paperboy with the Altoona Tribune, then the Altoona Mirror. Photography has always been a hobby for the good Sheriff
and he is the "official" PSA Photographer. In 1960, he started shooting pictures for Channel 6 News and the Johnstown Tribune along with his own photographic business, Field Photographic, which did general photography.
In 1962. Larry was elected as Constable and he also served as a Deputy Sheriff under V. Paul Reed until 1989. He ran for the Office of Sheriff and was sworn in on January 1, 1990. He is the longest serving Sheriff in Blair County. Sheriff Field is retiring as the Sheriff of Blair County at the end of this year.
He was honored last night at the Bavaria Hall in Altoona for his life and accomplishments.
Congratulations Sheriff Field! |
