Pike County Sheriff To Receive D.A.R.E. Award
With letters of recommendation from his District Attorney, County Commissioners, two Chiefs of Police and a neighboring county Sheriff, Pike County Sheriff Phil Bueki had been nominated for and will receive the D.A.R.E. Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award. The 2009 Drug Abuse Resistance Education Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award is given to a local Police Chief, Sheriff or Superintendent of the State Police. This award recognizes the efforts of a law enforcement executive and his/her department for their continuing support of the D.A.R.E. program as well as working wit the community to promote a variety of ongoing drug prevention and education initiatives. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is sponsoring the award with D.A.R.E. to highlight the importance of law enforcement and prevention working together to make our communities safe and drug free. Sheriff Bueki was notified on June 1st that he was chosen to receive the national award. Congratulations Sheriff Bueki!
