SHERIFF TODD MARTIN RECEIVES A. MITCHELL PALMER AWARD

On September 23rd, Monroe County Sheriff Todd A. Martin was honored with the A. Mitchell Palmer Award sponsored by the East Stroudsburg Elks Lodge #319 and the Monroe County Bar Association.

A. Mitchell Palmer was a local resident who experiences success on multiple stages in the early 1900’s. He had a successful law career, owned three local newspapers, was a major owner of the East Stroudsburg Bank and was a member of many community organizations including the East Stroudsburg Elks.

This award is presented annually to recognize long term and significant contributions in the area of law enforcement or community service within Monroe County. The award recipient possesses many characteristics of Mr. Palmer himself; strong love of country, a compassion for humanity, an entrepreneurial spirit, a strong commitment towards civic and community service leadership, vision and an interest in the political process.

Sheriff Martin has consistently demonstrated these same honorable traits.

He has been employed with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for 26 years, and Sheriff since 1995. A volunteer fireman since 1980, and past President of the Sheriffs’ Association, Sheriff Martin serves on many local community based organizations. Little League, Soccer programs, Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs, and the American Red Cross have all benefited from his involvement.

He has been honored for his service with many national, state and local awards throughout his distinguished career including being recognized in Who’s Who in Law Enforcement in 1990-1991.
