Canadian Mountie Struck and Killed While Assisting Motorist

A Royal Canadian Mounted Police Mountie was struck and killed Tuesday night
while helping a motorist change a flat tire in New Brunswick.
Constable Francis Deschenes was stopped on the Trans-Canada Highway near
Memramcook assisting the occupants of an SUV shortly after 6 p.m. when a
utility van collided with the officer’s marked patrol car, according to
CBC-TV

Deschenes was pronounced dead at the scene, while two people from the SUV
were transported to the hospital and later released.
