New Jersey Police Lieutenant Struck, Killed While Assisting Motorist

A veteran Jersey City police lieutenant was struck and killed on the New Jersey Turnpike early Friday morning.
Lt. Christopher Robateau was driving to work when he stopped to help a motorist shortly after 6:30 a.m. near mile marker 104 when he was hit, according to

The 49-year-old spent 23 years with the police department. He first joined the force in 1994 and was promoted to lieutenant in October 2014.
