RICHARDSON, Texas — A Richardson officer was fatally shot while responding to a disturbance call at an apartment complex, and a suspect was in custody late Wednesday.
The officer’s death was confirmed about 11 p.m., but his name has not been released while Richardson police worked to notify his family.
Shortly after midnight, police announced that a second person had died. No details about that victim were released.
The officer was shot while he was responding to a disturbance at an apartment complex where shots were fired about 7 p.m., Richardson police spokesman Kevin Perlich said. The officer was wounded when he arrived at the complex in the 4200 block of Renner Road, near North Star Road.
