Florida Trooper Dies After Suffering Heart Attack During Training Exercise

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper died after suffering a heart attack during training Tuesday.

Sgt. Daniel Hinton went into cardiac arrest during a training exercise and was transported to Gulf Goast Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to a news release.

“The entire Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles family mourns today for the loss of one of our own, FHP Mast Sergeant Daniel Hinton,” FLHSMV Executive Director Terry L. Rhodes and Florida Highway Patrol Colonel Gene Spaulding said in a joint statement.
