Texas Sheriff’s Deputy Struck, Killed on Highway

A Nacogdoches County, Texas Sheriff’s deputy was struck and killed while removing debris from a highway Friday morning.
The deputy was dispatched to U.S. 259 around 6:30 a.m. for debris in the roadway when he was struck by a Toyota Camry, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.
The impact of the collision sent the deputy in the southbound lane where he was then hit by a Ford Edge.
The deputy was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Kerry Williamson at the crash scene.
The driver of the Toyota Camry, 57-year-old Benjamin Leadon of Garrison, and his passenger were not injured in the crash.
